I tell the truth, even when I tell a lie…, 2009, video installation shot, 20 x 20’

This piece uses found footage from a documentary of the U.S. marines in Afghanistan as its point of departure. When I first watched the documentary, I felt a tremendous sense of anxiety, as I tried to make sense of my position to a war to which I have only a mediated experience of. In this piece, I endeavored to re-territorialize the violence and the distance back within the body.
